Why are Disney Magic Key passes unavailable?

The recent stoppage of non-renewal Inspire Key transactions means that the sale of new Magic Key passes is temporarily halted. This is not the first time that Disneyland has paused the sale of new Magic Keys, as the park also temporarily halted the sale of new passes in May 2022.

Sales resumed again in January and April of 2023, but now the situation has CHANGED. As of April 14th, only the Inspire Key was available for new purchases and all other Magic Keys were available for renewal. But now it seems ALL Magic Key passes are unavailable for new purchases.

Back in January 2023, Disney did have this to say about the Magic Key program, “Disneyland Resort will make select Magic Key passes available for new sales from time to time throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available.” Currently, all sales have been paused since September.

Starting on January 9, 2024, you can visit any theme park without a reservation as long as you have a date-based ticket. A date-based ticket is the standard ticket option and means you've purchased park passes for a specific time frame (whether it's tickets alone or part of a vacation package).
