Why are MagicBands so limited?

If you are choosing your MagicBand in your My Disney Experience Account you may see an official notification from Walt Disney World stating that MagicBand availability is currently limited due to supply chain challenges.

It is perfectly acceptable to reuse an old MagicBand on your next trip. The official word from Walt Disney World is that the battery life of a band is expected to be about 2 years. However, I personally have older ones that are still going strong! So, bring your MagicBands and try it!

Just make sure they're active. One thing thats a slight bummer is cannot use them to buy points at resort arcades but thats life. They will work for purchases and tapping into rides. But they won't link the ride photos that don't have a touch point.

If you're staying “off property” you can use a Magic Band as your park admission, to check in for Lightning Lanes, access the Disney World Virtual Queue, and for Photo Pass. You will NOT be able to charge purchases on your band, however.

Yes. According to Walt Disney World, the MagicBand+ is “waterproof for pools and water rides.” Can off-site guests use MagicBand Plus? Yes.

You can use your phone. Create a Magic Mobile pass within the My Disney Experience app. As long as you're using your phone to only scan in YOURSELF (meaning not you AND the other members of your party), then it should be fine. It might be slower than using a MagicBand, but it still works.
