Why are there so many shark teeth on Folly Beach?

For some reason... perhaps due to the current or possibly even the position of the island's coastline against the sea and incoming tides, Folly Beach catches loads of fossils. A simple walk along the shore can yield a number of finds if you know what to look for. ...a number of them!

Venice FL is known as the shark's tooth capitol of the world and Caspersen Beach is the place to find the most of them. Most of the other beaches in the area have had the sand wash away and then be replenished with sand from another beach. Caspersen is still the original beach with fossil teeth.
