Magic Kingdom's Splash Mountain creatures sang their last notes in January of 2023, and Disneyland's on May 31, 2023. Now, the ride has closed its doors forever. The brand new ride replacing it, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, is inspired by Tiana, the radiant star of the 2009 animated hit The Princess and the Frog.
As the title says, Space Mountain and other attractions often break for an hour or two and then they are back up and running. I was curious what actually is happening? Space Mountain has systems in place that require each train to be unloaded and reloaded in 20 seconds. If this time frame isn't met the ride shuts down.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland park will be closed for a refurbishment beginning on April 3, 2023. The Disneyland calendar currently only goes through April 3, so a reopening date for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is not yet available. It will likely be a relatively basic refurbishment.
Splash Mountain, one of the theme park's most famous rides, features music and characters from the controversial 1946 film, “Song of the South.” The movie follows a young boy at a Georgia plantation during the Reconstruction era. The film has been criticized for using racist stereotypes and glorifying plantation life.
Disneyland closes rides throughout the year to allow for refurbishment. Sadly this means that sometimes our favorite rides, entertainment and restaurants require brief closures to keep things sparkling for guests.
