Why did Disneyland ban strollers?

Wagon-style strollers are ideal for hauling little ones around Park, but they've been ousted from Walt Disney World and Disneyland since 2019. Due to sheer size, they've been banned from Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.

Disneyland did not "ban" strollers entirely, but in May 2019, they implemented strict Stroller Size Restrictions that remain in effect in 2026. Strollers must now be no larger than 31 inches (79 cm) wide and 52 inches (132 cm) long. The primary reason for this was to improve "Guest Flow" and reduce congestion in the narrow walkways of Fantasyland and the crowded queues of Galaxy’s Edge. More importantly, Disney banned all stroller wagons (including the popular Keenz and Wonderfold models). This was because wagons have a larger footprint, are harder to maneuver in crowds, and often cause "trip hazards" for other guests. Exceptions are only made for children with disabilities who have a "Stroller as a Wheelchair" tag issued by Guest Relations. For 2026 parents, the "pro-tip" is to measure your stroller before you leave the house; if it exceeds the limit, you will be required to rent one of Disney’s molded plastic strollers at the front of the park, which meet all size requirements but offer less storage and comfort than many personal models.

This was largely in part to issues with the wagons causing congestion in the park walkways. The only exception to this rule is if the wagon is deemed medically necessary for the child(ren).

The bottom line is stroller thefts at Disney are rare, but they do happen. You are more likely to have a cast member move your stroller to another spot in the stroller lot than to have it stolen. With that said, be smart about your property and don't make it easy for criminals to take your stuff.
