Why did Stratford go into decline?

Stratford's decline happened due to deindustrialisation and the closure of the Royal Docks. Because of the deprived status, the existing waste and industrial lands available, and the close location to the City, Stratford was chosen by the UK for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
