When a flight attendant announces "Stand by for all call" (or simply "All Call"), they are initiating a mandatory safety and communication check via the aircraft's internal interphone system. This usually happens immediately after the cabin doors are "armed" for departure or "disarmed" upon arrival. The "All Call" allows the lead flight attendant (purser) to verify with every station in the aircraft—front, middle, and back—that the doors have been correctly configured. During this check, attendants at each door will pick up their handsets and report their status (e.g., "Door 1 Left armed and cross-checked"). This ensures that in the event of an emergency, the evacuation slides will deploy automatically (armed) or, conversely, that ground crews can safely open the doors from the outside without the slides accidentally deploying (disarmed). It is a redundant safety protocol designed to prevent human error and ensure that every crew member is at their station and the aircraft is physically prepared for the next phase of the flight.
