Why do some planes not show up on flight radar?

A flight may not be visible on Flightradar24 for different reasons, but most likely it is either outside our coverage in that area or not equipped with a compatible transponder or a combination of the two.

There may be several reasons why a flight cannot be found. Either it has not taken off yet or has already landed. Also, not all aircraft are equipped with the correct transponder to be tracked by Flightradar24, or the flight could be flying outside our coverage area.

I often see military flights in the sky, which do not appear on FlightRadar24. I do understand that low-flying military airplanes do no necessarily get picked up by these trackers, and that some military aircrafts switch of transponders. However some flight do appear on this ADSB-Tracking website.
