Why is Delta based in Atlanta?

In January 1941, Delta was awarded a major route expansion. This expansion made Atlanta the center of Delta's 16-city route system. A new route from Atlanta to Cincinnati, Ohio made Atlanta even more geographically important for Delta. In March 1941, Delta officially moved its headquarters to Atlanta.
