Why is Disneyland celebrating 100 years?

The Walt Disney Company celebrated a milestone anniversary on October 16th, 100 years after Walt Disney, along with his brother Roy, first founded the company.

Starting on January 9, 2024, you can visit any theme park without a reservation as long as you have a date-based ticket. A date-based ticket is the standard ticket option and means you've purchased park passes for a specific time frame (whether it's tickets alone or part of a vacation package).

Roy O. Disney, who after Walt's death oversaw the building and financing of Walt Disney World, died in late 1971, and for the next decade the Company was led by a team including Card Walker, Donn Tatum, and Ron Miller—all originally trained by the Disney brothers.

What is offered when you celebrate your birthday in the Park is a badge, like that of the Park staff, but instead of your name, you will find drawings and happy birthday writings, with or without Disney characters. You can pick it up at the City Hall, just before heading to the Castle, along Main Street.
