Why is hot springs famous for?

Over the years, Hot Springs became famous for its therapeutic benefits. The area attracted more visitors and developed into a well-known resort nicknamed “The American Spa” because it attracted not only the wealthy but also health seekers from around the world.

Hot springs are heated by geothermal heat—heat from the Earth's interior. In volcanic areas, water may come into contact with very hot rock heated by magma. Hot springs in active volcanic zones may produce superheated water, so hot that immersion can result in injury or death.

Hot Springs National Park is a fee-free park! There is no entrance free nor are there any additional charges for the park's brochure, junior ranger program, or ranger-led tours. The park does have certain America the Beautiful Passes available at the Fordyce Bathhouse.

Ultimately it's your choice whether to soak with or without a swimsuit (unless it's illegal at the hot spring – check Utah's before you go). Be mindful of the situation! If you arrive and there are people soaking nude, give them as much privacy as you can, don't stare. Same goes to those soaking nude!
