Why is it called Lost Lake?

History of the Lost Lake Resort The lake was not named until 1880 when a party led by Ezra L. Smith had a difficult time finding the exact location documented by the Divers. When it was not located where it should have been on the map Smith claimed the traveling party was not lost, but instead the lake itself.
