Why is Magic Kingdom closing at 6?

During the most popular ticketed events of the year such as Mickey's No-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the park normally closes at 6:00 pm. There are also times of the year when there is a special event when the park might even close at 4:30 in the afternoon.
