Why is Nemo ride closed?

Following the park's closure during the pandemic, the attraction would remain closed for a further year as it underwent the major renovation, which includes 3,000 new pieces of coral, 12,000ft of seaweed, new colours, 400 new underwater lighting fixtures, special effects and 90 new projectors.

As of late February 2026, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland Park is currently open and operating during standard park hours. If you find the ride closed during your visit, it is likely due to a "temporary technical downtime" or a short-term "scheduled refurbishment." Because the ride uses a complex underwater track and aging submarine vessels, it requires more frequent maintenance than a typical land-based ride. Historical data shows that Disney often schedules refurbishments for this attraction in the "low-demand" months of January or early February to prepare for the Spring Break rush. If the ride is showing as "Closed" on your app, it is usually just a temporary sensor issue or a routine safety check; checking back in an hour or asking a nearby Cast Member is the best way to see when the "Nautical Exploration and Marine Observation" (N.E.M.O.) institute will resume its voyages.
