Will Kings Island take my vape?

For the convenience of all our guests, smoking of any kind, including vapor and e-cigarettes, is oonly permitted in the designated smoking areas outside the park's main entrance and Soak City Water Park's entrance.. Please refer to our map for the specific location. Smoking is not permitted inside Kings Island.

Kings Island will not "take" (confiscate) your vape permanently at the gate, but they have a very strict Code of Conduct regarding its use. In 2026, vaping is prohibited inside the park gates, including in all lines, ride platforms, and indoor areas. If security sees you using a vape inside the park, they will ask you to stop; repeated violations can lead to being ejected from the park without a refund. You are permitted to keep your vape in your bag or pocket, but you must leave the park and use it in the designated smoking/vaping areas located outside the Main Gate. Some thrill-seekers try to vape on rides, which is a major safety violation; the park uses high-definition cameras and sensors on many attractions to monitor for this behavior. To avoid any issues, simply treat your vape like a cigarette: keep it tucked away until you are in the approved exterior zone, and you'll have no trouble with park security.

That’s an excellent and practical question for any theme park visit. The short answer is: Yes, Kings Island will almost certainly take your vape if they find it during the security screening at the front gate.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of their policy and what you need to know:

1. Official Policy: No Smoking/Vaping in the Park

Kings Island, like all Cedar Fair parks, is a smoke-free and vape-free park. This policy is clearly stated on their website and at the park entrance. Designated Areas: Smoking and vaping are only permitted in specifically designated smoking areas, which are located outside the park’s front gate. There are no smoking areas inside the park itself. Security Screening: Every guest and their bags go through a metal detector and bag check. Security is actively looking for prohibited items, which include weapons, glass containers, and smoking materials.

2. What Happens at Security?

  • If they find it in your bag or on your person, they will ask you to remove it. You will be given two choices:
    1. Take it back to your car.
    2. Surrender it to security (it will be discarded).
  • They will not hold it for you to pick up later. It’s a “surrender or return to car” situation.

3. Risks of Trying to Bring It In

  • Confiscation: The most likely outcome is that you’ll lose your vape device and any associated pods/liquids.
  • Denied Entry: In some cases, particularly if there’s a dispute or you’re found trying to deliberately conceal it, security could deny you entry. Their policy is strict for the comfort and safety of all guests, especially families with children.
  • Use Inside the Park: If you somehow get it in and are caught using
