Yes, there is a very high probability that your shoes will get wet at Niagara Falls, especially if you participate in the most popular attractions. If you take the Maid of the Mist (US side) or Niagara City Cruises (Canadian side) boat tours, you will be enveloped in a dense cloud of mist that acts like heavy rain. Even with the provided plastic ponchos, water often runs down the poncho and onto your footwear. Similarly, the Cave of the Winds tour takes you onto "hurricane decks" just feet away from the Bridal Veil Falls, where you will be thoroughly soaked by spray and splashing water. Even just standing at the viewing railings on a windy day can result in a face-full of mist. To protect your feet, it is highly recommended to wear waterproof sandals (like Tevas or Chacos) or water shoes. If you must wear sneakers, consider bringing a spare pair of socks or using waterproof shoe covers. Most of the walkways near the falls are constantly damp and can be slippery, so shoes with good traction are just as important as water resistance.
