Elton John Concludes Farewell Tour with Final Show, Marking the End of Over 50 Years of Touring

Renowned musician Elton John delivered what he claims to be his last performance on the concluding night of his farewell tour on Saturday.

Taking the stage in Stockholm, Sweden, the legendary British artist bid farewell as a touring artist, bringing an end to a remarkable career spanning more than five decades, as stated on his official website.

In an Instagram video shared on Saturday, Elton John expressed his sentiments, stating, "What a journey this tour has been and now we find ourselves at the end of it. Tonight is the final night."

The video also features a clip from a 2018 interview with Anderson Cooper of CNN, where the musician disclosed his decision to retire from touring. "It's the last time that I will be touring and traveling the world," he affirmed.

Initially slated to conclude in 2021, the "Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour" was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to its postponement. With over 300 shows and more than 6 million fans in attendance worldwide, this farewell tour marked a significant milestone in Elton John's career.

As the tour reached its conclusion, the 76-year-old musician made his final stop in the United Kingdom, headlining the renowned Glastonbury Festival.

During his 2018 interview with Anderson Cooper, Elton John attributed his decision to retire from touring to his desire to prioritize his family. With two sons alongside his husband David Furnish, he expressed the importance of being present for their lives.
