Are MagicBands complimentary?

MagicBands are no longer provided free of charge, but if you are a Disney resort hotel guest, you can purchase them at a discount, via your My Disney Experience account. You can also purchase them via ShopDisney, though it will not recognize the resort package discount.

As of 2026, MagicBands are no longer complimentary for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests or Annual Passholders. This change, which originally went into effect in early 2021, means that guests must now purchase these wearable devices if they wish to use them. Prices for a standard MagicBand or the more advanced MagicBand+ typically range from $30 to $60 USD, depending on the design and features. Guests who choose not to purchase a band can use the free Disney MagicMobile service on their smartphones or smartwatches via the My Disney Experience app. Alternatively, guests can request a physical Key to the World card at their resort front desk or at any Guest Relations location, which provides the same basic functionality—such as room entry and park admission—at no additional cost. While the MagicBand+ offers interactive features like haptic vibrations and light patterns that sync with nighttime spectaculars, it is entirely optional for a standard Disney vacation.
