Are meals included on VIA Rail Canadian?

Meals and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are included when you travel in Business class. For lunch and dinner, we provide a selection of catered-type meals that include bread, an appetizer, a dessert, a glass of Canadian wine, and a selection of hot beverages1,2,3.

Train holidays with VIA Rail are a more economical way to experience Canada. Unlike the Rocky Mountaineer which offers daylight only services, the VIA Rail trains operate throughout the day and night getting you to your destination sooner.

The Toronto to Vancouver sleeper train cost depends on the train class you select and the date you choose to travel. Fares for a cabin for two in Sleeper Plus Class start at approximately $2000 per person. Fares for Prestige Class cabins start at approximately $5000 per person.

Can I bring my own snacks and drinks on VIA Rail? You can bring your own snacks and drinks onto the train; however, Provincial laws forbid passengers from consuming personal alcoholic drinks on the trains. Personal alcoholic drinks may only be consumed inside private sleeping cabins.

How much luggage is allowed? For both the Rocky Mountaineer and VIA Rail you are allowed two large, checked items per person. For both rail companies, the maximum weight allowed per bag is 22.6 kg (50 lbs)., with a maximum linear dimension (combination of length, width, and height) of 158 cm (62 inches).
