The only “pro” of the single rider lines at Disney World is that you'll get on the ride faster. If the wait times were identical, you'd prefer the regular standby line.
How high is the drop? The final drop on Rise of the Resistance is between 10 and 20 feet, though because of special effects it can feel like more. Generally, Lightning Lanes will have a shorter wait than single rider, and if we had a Lightning Lane we'd almost never opt to use single rider instead.
The minimum age to ride most attractions alone (assuming the child meets the minimum height requirement) is 7 years old. Of course, you know your child's personality and maturity level best, so it's up to you to decide if you're comfortable sending him or her to ride solo.
Single Rider is a service that allows groups to split up and embark on select attractions individually! A Cast Member can direct you to the designated queue, where your party will be separated to fill remaining seats that aren't occupied by Guests utilizing stand-by lines.

Tip #2 – Don't Try To Do Everything at Magic KingdomUnless you're visiting Magic Kingdom on a rare slow day or you pay for a V.I.P. tour, it is very unlikely that you'll be able to do every attraction at the park. Focus on hitting the best attractions and not stressing about the wait times.

My advice after experiencing both attractions would be to skip Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. While it is a great attraction, there are many jolts and lots of ups and downs as you make your way through space.
Many other attraction lines in Hollywood Studios have short standby lines in the morning. It's a better use of your time to ride them and save Rise for when lines are longer for everything later in the day (11:00am or later at least!).
