Can I give my United lounge pass to a friend?

One-time passes are non-refundable and can't be sold, traded, or bartered. United reserves the right to refuse admittance to anyone who interferes with the atmosphere of the United Club. United Club members who bring more guests than allowed will be charged for any additional guests.

Whether you can give your United Club lounge pass to a friend depends on how the pass was issued. If you have United Club one-time passes earned from a United MileagePlus credit card (like the Explorer or Quest cards), these are typically transferable; you can simply email the digital pass or give the physical one to a friend, as long as they are also traveling on a same-day United or Star Alliance flight. However, starting in 2025, United implemented a rule stating that one-time passes must be used within three hours of a flight's departure. If your "pass" is actually part of a United Club Membership or a "companion" benefit tied to your Premier status, it is non-transferable; the primary member must be present for guests to enter. For 2026 travelers, always check the "Terms and Conditions" in your United app under the "Wallet" section, as passes gifted during specific promotions may have "non-transferable" labels that prevent them from being scanned by anyone but the original recipient.
