Can I pay for AirTrain by contactless?

Governor Kathy Hochul, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that AirTrain JFK will begin accepting fare payments using the MTA's OMNY “Tap and Go” contactless payment readers starting Tuesday, October 10th.

That's only true for entry to the Subway, not for the Airtrain fare gates, so I thought I'd clarify. In any event, at Howard Beach there is NO contactless for subway or Airtrain. At Jamaica there is contactless for subway, but NOT for Airtrain.

AirTrain JFK operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. AirTrain is free unless you start or end your journey at Jamaica and Howard Beach Stations. There, the fee is $8.25 USD, payable only by MetroCard.
