Can I use my Railcard as a photocard?
Can I use my Railcard as a photocard? If you are renewing your Season ticket you can use your existing Photocard. Please note any form of railcard (including 16-25 Railcards) cannot be used as a Photocard.
Can I add a plastic Railcard to the app?
Unfortunately you are unable to swap a plastic Railcard to a digital Railcard. However, when the time comes to renew your Railcard you can do this online and choose to have a digital Railcard.
How do I get a photo Railcard?
You can obtain a Photocard from your local station. To obtain a Photocard you will need to provide one passport sized photo, and your Photocard will be issued free of charge.
Will a screenshot of Railcard work?
Digital railcards must be shown in the app, screenshots are not acceptable - so the fact it's a fake will be easily spotted.
Can Railcard photo be a selfie?
The image should be a good recognisable likeness of you. We prefer colour pictures but black and white images are acceptable. Your head and shoulders should be in close-up, with your face clearly visible and filling approximately 70% of the frame (in the same way it would for a passport or driving licence).

Your head and shoulders should be in close-up, with your face clearly visible and filling approximately 70% of the frame (in the same way it would for a passport or driving licence). The image must be in sharp focus. Please make sure that your face is not obscured by hats or hair.

Using your Railcard You can get your Railcard in a digital format to be stored in the National Rail Railcard app on your phone or tablet, or as a physical card. You can use your Railcard to buy tickets online, at a ticket office, from a ticket machine, and over the phone.

Can I show my Railcard on my phone?
Railcard are available offline for a period of up to 72 hours. The Railcard app on your device will continue to show your digital Railcard as long as your mobile device has connected to the internet at some point within the last 72 hours.
Can I use my boyfriends Railcard?
No. The Railcard is for your use only, and provides discounts only on tickets bought for your own use. It does not cover anyone accompanying you.
