Can overweight people ride the rides at Disney World?

While there are height requirements, Disney World rides do not have weight limits. We reached out to the Magical Kingdom for confirmation! Disney World assured us that no theme park attractions have weight limits. However, many rides feature restraint devices which may prevent some guests from being able to ride.

Walt Disney World is widely recognized as one of the most "size-friendly" theme park destinations in the world. Unlike many other parks with restrictive "over-the-shoulder" harnesses, the majority of Disney attractions use lap bars, seatbelts, or bench-style seating that accommodates a wide range of body types. Iconic rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, and even thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain are very accommodating for larger guests. However, there are a few exceptions that can be challenging: Avatar Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom uses a unique "bicycle-style" restraint that secures the calves and lower back, which can be restrictive for some guests. Similarly, the "lightcycle" seats on TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom have specific leg and waist dimensions; however, Disney provides "test seats" at the entrance of these rides so you can check the fit privately before joining the queue. If the standard seat doesn't work, TRON even has specialized "accessible" cars at the back of some trains with traditional lap bars. Overall, Disney goes to great lengths to ensure that "Guests of Size" can enjoy nearly every experience in the parks with dignity and comfort.
