The most popular destinations for year-round beach driving is the 4WD accessible beaches north of Corolla, Hatteras Island, and Ocracoke Island. Wintertime beach driving is also allowed in central Outer Banks communities including Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills.

Overnight camping, driving, and open fires are prohibited within the Town of Carolina Beach. Options for all of these activities are available at other regions, such as Freeman Park and Carolina Beach State Park.

Though Ocean Isle Beach is much less busy than other popular beaches along the coast of North Carolina and South Carolina, the town still experiences the occasional busy Saturday when weeklong visitors settle into their vacation rentals and head to the grocery store for food.
Your best bet for parking around Ocean Drive is in one of Miami Beach's garages. They're located at 7th Street and Collins Avenue, 13th Street and Collins Avenue, and 16th Street and Collins Avenue. There are also parking lots all around, as far south as South Pointe Park and as far west as Alton Road.
