Can you fly into Kiev Ukraine?

Boryspil International Airport (KBP) and Kyiv International Airport (IEV) are the most popular and busiest airports in Ukraine facilitating international flights. The former is about 18 miles east of Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, and is served by an express train and several intercity bus routes.

As of February 2026, you cannot fly directly into Kyiv, Ukraine (IEV or KBP) for commercial passenger travel. The Ukrainian airspace remains closed to civil aviation due to the ongoing conflict and the high risk to aircraft from missile activity and anti-aircraft systems. Travelers wishing to reach Kyiv must fly into neighboring countries—most commonly Poland (Warsaw or Rzeszów), Moldova (Chișinău), or Romania (Iași)—and complete the journey via an extensive network of "Iron Diplomacy" trains operated by Ukrzaliznytsia or cross-border buses. While there have been sporadic discussions about reopening a "humanitarian air corridor" through Lviv in western Ukraine, as of early 2026, insurance risks and safety protocols have kept all major international hubs within Ukraine strictly off-limits for standard commercial flight operations.
