Can you get from Fort Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge?

Other direct destinations from Fort Wilderness are Disney's Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary (not currently available). By boat, you'll board a blue flag boat. You can also catch a bus at the Outpost Depot. Depending on your family, the Inner Loop bus to theme park bus system can be a nuisance or not an issue.

While there is no direct boat access between Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, you will have a few options to get you to your dining reservation.

The walking path that used to connect these two locations is no longer available due to construction that was taking place here. To travel between these two resorts, your best option will be to take the bus that runs between the two.

There are tons of places on Fort Wilderness property where you can take the golf carts, but there is not a designated pathway for carts to get to Disney's Wilderness Lodge. There is a walking trail you can take that is about a mile long and is quite beautiful.

Wilderness Lodge Transportation Boats - There is direct boat service to the Magic Kingdom. It is a delightful ride throughout the day (subject to weather), however lines can be long to ride first thing in the morning. If this is the case, you may want to consider riding the bus.

Disney says that buses run about every 20 minutes to each destination, but our experience has been that they often come at shorter intervals. One of our favorite ways to get around Disney World is by boat, and Wilderness Lodge is one of the best places to do it.

An easy way to see some of the Magic Kingdom fireworks is to head for the Fort Wilderness beach. They will pipe in the music each night and although it isn't a clear view, as you have the old Discovery Island between you and the park, you can still see quite a bit above the tree line.

Getting to the Parks from Wilderness Lodge To get to three of the four theme parks, you'll be relying on Disney's bus transportation: Epcot — 10 - 15 minutes by bus. Hollywood Studios — 10-15 minutes by bus. Animal Kingdom — 15-20 minutes by bus.

You cannot walk to anywhere or anything from Wilderness lodge. They have a boat on property that will take you directly to Magic Kingdom. You can take the monorail from there to get to TTC and then to Epcot.

Guests staying at The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are always allowed to bring their own camping gear if they would like but it is not required! You may actually rent a tent and cots for the duration of your stay if you would like to avoid dragging along your own gear.
