The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened its doors on July 22, 1994, at what was then Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney's Hollywood Studios). Initially, the ride included only one big drop. In May 1996, a second full drop was added, followed by a third drop and enhanced special effects in March 1999.
From the back story, to theming, to ride movements, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is one of the scariest attractions at Walt Disney World. If your child is sensitive to scary movies or themes, they may be too frightened to even get into the elevator.
It is worth noting that this version of the Tower of Terror is the only one that moves both vertically and horizontally. The elevator actually moves through what's called the ?Fifth Dimension? scene, which is where the elevator really seems to enter the Twilight Zone.

On August 18, 2010, a 20-year-old man was hospitalized after falling 25 feet (7.6 m) from the platform of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. He was waiting in line to ride the attraction and climbed over a barrier before losing his balance.
Fun Facts. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Attraction is 199 feet tall, making it the highest attraction at Walt Disney World® Resort. Imagineers say the attraction contains only 13 floors because the tower is full of so many 'tall stories.
