Can you still convert Southwest travel funds to points?

In 2020 Southwest did have a period of time when travel funds could be converted to Rapid Rewards points. That option is no longer available. Now, you would need to let the travel funds expire, then they could be converted to LUV vouchers which could be used by anyone.

If you have Southwest flight credits, you'll have the option to convert travel funds into Southwest Rapid Rewards points. Depending on how you plan to use those funds, this may or may not be a good idea. If you plan to book a flight prior to your funds' expiration, converting might not make sense.

Points cannot be transferred without knowing the recipient's Rapid Rewards account number. They can enroll for free at Southwest.com. Once they have an account established, you will then be able to gift points.

If you cancel or change a flight paid for with a travel fund or multiple travel funds, the credit is given back to you in the form of a single travel fund with the expiration date of the earliest expiration of the travel funds you used to make the original purchase.
