Can you still use cash at Kings Island?

At Kings Island, we want you to have an AMAZING time with your friends and family. That's why we've moved to all cashless payments throughout the park. Simply swipe or tap your credit card, debit card or smart device with Apple Pay or Google Pay where you would normally use cash.

As of 2026, Kings Island has transitioned to a fully cashless environment, meaning you can no longer use physical bills or coins at most dining, retail, or games locations within the park. This move was designed to increase transaction speed and improve safety for both guests and staff. If you only have cash upon arrival, the park provides multiple "Cash-to-Card" kiosks (located near the front gate and throughout the park) where you can insert your cash and receive a prepaid Visa debit card for the exact same amount with no transaction fees. These cards are accepted anywhere that Visa is taken, both inside and outside the park. While the transition initially faced some resistance, it has become the industry standard for major North American theme parks. For the smoothest experience, travelers are encouraged to use credit cards, debit cards, or mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay to avoid the need for the kiosk altogether.

The answer is it depends on what you want to do. If you only want to ride the big thrill rides, then yes, it is a one day park. If you want to ride all the rides, and see some shows (highly, highly recommend Cirque!) then you could easily spend two days there.
