Can you take bags on rides at Universal Studios?

Universal also prohibits duffle bags, suitcases, hard-sided coolers, and soft-sided coolers over 6? x 6? x 8.5? (152 mm x 152 mm x 216 mm) in size. Touring Tip: Bring bags smaller than 14? x 16? x 5.5? – that size will fit into Universal's free attraction lockers.

At Universal Studios (both Orlando and Hollywood), the "bag policy" varies significantly depending on the intensity of the attraction. For low-impact rides like The Simpsons Ride or Minion Mayhem, you are generally permitted to bring your bags on board and place them at your feet. However, for high-thrill roller coasters such as The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, or Revenge of the Mummy, you are strictly prohibited from carrying any bags, purses, or even loose items like cell phones and keys into the queue. For these rides, Universal provides complimentary lockers near the attraction entrance that are free for the duration of your wait and ride time. These lockers are operated using your park ticket or a biometric scan. In 2026, the policy for VelociCoaster and Iron Rocket remains the strictest, involving metal detectors to ensure no loose items are taken on board. If you have a very large bag that won't fit in the standard free lockers, larger "all-day" lockers are available for a fee near the park entrance.
