Luggage can only be checked in if you have a ticket valid for the whole luggage transport route or one of the following annual travelcards: GA Travelcard, Point-to-Point Travelcard, Half Fare Travelcard, Regional Travelcard, FVP (travel discount for SBB employees), seven25 Travelcard, Modular Travelcard.

Taking luggage on SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) is very straightforward, as there are no specific weight or dimension limits for bags you carry yourself. The general rule is that you must be able to lift and carry your own luggage and ensure it does not block the aisles or doors of the train. Most trains have overhead racks for small items and dedicated luggage areas at the ends of the carriages or between seats for larger suitcases. On double-decker trains, there are often luggage racks near the stairs. If you prefer not to haul heavy bags, SBB offers a very popular luggage transport service where they will deliver your bags from station-to-station or even door-to-door within Switzerland for a fee. This service typically takes two to three days. For those traveling to or from Zurich or Geneva airports, there are also specialized "flight luggage" services that allow you to check your bags at your local train station and have them sent directly to the airport or vice versa.
