Can you take the Monorail without a ticket?

The Walt Disney World monorail is completely free, and is open for any guest to ride without a ticket. Just know that you may have to pay for parking if you're looking to park and ride.

A: Yes. All Guests have complimentary access to our network of monorails, buses and boats. If you would like to visit multiple parks, enjoy a nice dinner at one of the Disney Resort hotels or shop at Disney Springs, you can leave your car parked in the theme park lot and use our transportation network.

But, if you take the official WDW transportation bus from a Disney resort of theme park, it will drop you off right between the Contemporary and MK, where you can walk right into the MK gates. The Disney Skyliner transportation system opened in fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort and has since been taking guests on the most magical flight on earth! It joins the many wonderful, free transportation options (buses, ferryboats and monorails) that take guests around the parks, hotels and entertainment areas.

You can take the monorail from Epcot to Magic Kingdom, there is a monorail station right outside the main entrance to Epcot. However it is much faster to take a bus. Taking the monorail, you need to transfer between Epcot and MK. When we did this there was a very long wait at the transfer station.

The entire set of the beam, the bogies, the wheels, etc. is more complex and expensive for a monorail. Monorail requires a lot of stuff around the beam, often made of expensive rare metals, with a lot more maintenance. Monorail beam itself must be built and maintained to high specifications.

The Disney After Hours at EPCOT event takes place from 10.00pm to 1.00am. You can get a head start on the fun by entering EPCOT at 7.00pm. You do not need a Disney park reservation or additional ticket to enter EPCOT after 7.00pm.
