As of 2026, you cannot use physical Disney Dollars directly at shops or restaurants on a Disney Cruise Line ship. Disney stopped producing physical Disney Dollars in 2016, and while they technically never expire and are still honored as "legal tender" at Disney theme parks and hotels, the cruise ships operate on a strictly "Cashless System." All onboard purchases—from cocktails at the adult lounges to souvenirs in the gift shops—must be charged to your stateroom account using your "Key to the World" card or wearable "Disney Band." To use your Disney Dollars, you must take them to the Guest Services desk on the ship, where a crew member can apply the value of the physical bills as a credit to your onboard account. This credit will then offset any charges you make during the voyage. This same process applies to Disney Gift Cards and "Disney Rewards Dollars" earned from the Disney Visa Card; they must be linked to your account at the start of the cruise to be utilized for your onboard expenses or gratuities.
