Can you use United lounge if upgraded to first class?

United Airlines offers a place for passengers to relax before or after their flight. The United Club? lounge is available to United Club members, Star Alliance Gold members, passengers traveling in United Polaris business class or United first class, or passengers who purchase a one-time pass.

In 2026, being upgraded to Domestic First Class on United Airlines does not automatically grant you access to the United Club. United’s lounge policy strictly excludes domestic first-class passengers from club access unless they hold a separate United Club membership, have Star Alliance Gold status, or are traveling on a "Premium Transcontinental" route (such as Newark to Los Angeles or San Francisco). However, if you are upgraded to United Polaris Business Class or United Business on an international flight, you will have access to the Polaris Lounge or United Club. For domestic travelers in 2026, the only "upgrade" that consistently includes lounge access is a move into the international business cabin or having a high-tier credit card like the United Club Infinite. If you find yourself in domestic first class and want to use the lounge, you can usually purchase a "One-Time Pass" through the United app for around $59, subject to capacity.
