Did the Turtle Club survive Ian?

Founded in 1998 on the grounds of the Vanderbilt Beach Resort on the Gulf shore in North Naples, The Turtle Club was destroyed by storm surge. “It's pretty much toast. I hate to say it,” says co-founder Peter Tierney, who was in North Carolina when Ian hit the coast.

BEACH ACCESS UPDATE The City of Naples has reopened 35 of the 40 beach accesses and a small section of the pier. Please remember, there is still debris in the water and buried 6-inches or more under the sand. Beach goers should wear protective footwear and are advised not to swim.

Sanibel Island is now open to anyone who wants to visit. The reopening comes just a day after the tolls on the Sanibel Causeway were reinstated. Sanibel's recovery progress includes 80% of right-of-way debris being removed from the East Periwinkle Way bridge.
