Do Animal Kingdom characters walk around the park? Sadly, unlike at Disneyland and California Adventure, where characters are more likely to wander around the parks, most Animal Kingdom characters tend to be in a dedicated meet-and-greet location. However, there are some exceptions.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that Animal Kingdom is home to many different animals that require care. This requires the park to close earlier than others so cast members can care for the animals and prepare for the next day.

While Disney has found ways to extend the fun into the afternoon and evening hours, most of the animals viewed here are far more active, and therefore visible, in the morning. I strongly recommend you arrive at the park at opening time, or as soon afterwards as possible, to maximize your visit.
