As of 2026, Ryanair has transitioned almost entirely to Digital Boarding Passes (DBP) through their official app. For the vast majority of routes, you do not need to print your boarding pass and can simply scan the QR code from your smartphone. In fact, Ryanair has stated a goal to eliminate paper passes to reduce their environmental footprint. However, there are critical exceptions: if you are flying from certain airports in countries like Morocco, Turkey, or Lebanon, local security regulations often still require a printed paper boarding pass. Additionally, if you fail to check in online at least two hours before your flight, you will be charged a significant "Airport Check-in Fee" (often around £/€55). If your phone dies or you lose it after you have already checked in online, Ryanair staff can usually assist you at the gate for free, but it is always safer to have your phone fully charged or carry a portable power bank.
