Do kids need their own My Disney Experience account?

For children under the age of 13 and Guests that do not wish to have their own My Disney Experience accounts, you can create a My Disney Experience account profile managed under your account by selecting "Add a Guest" at the bottom of your Family and Friends List.

Whether a child needs their own My Disney Experience (MDE) account depends on their age and your preference for managing their plans. Children under 13 cannot create their own accounts due to federal privacy laws; their profiles must be created and managed by an adult through that adult's "Family & Friends" list. For children aged 13 to 17, they can create their own account if they have their own smartphone and want to manage their own Lightning Lanes or mobile food orders, but many parents choose to keep them as "managed profiles" to maintain control over the itinerary and linked payment methods. Once a guest turns 18, it is generally recommended they create their own independent account and then link to the rest of the family. This allows them to have their own digital identity for future trips while still being able to share plans, photo passes, and dining reservations with the primary group.
