Do military get lounge access?

U.S. military personnel traveling in uniform can access domestic and international American Airlines Admirals Club locations, with the exception of the Airspace Lounge in San Diego (SAN) and the JAL Sakura Lounge in Honolulu (HNL).

In 2026, active-duty military members have several ways to access airport lounges, though it is rarely "automatic" just for being in the service. United, American, and Delta all offer lounge access to active-duty personnel in uniform (or with leave orders/ID) when traveling on a same-day flight with that specific airline. Additionally, many premium credit cards—like the Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve—waive their annual fees (often $550–$695) for active-duty members under the Military Lending Act (MLA). These cards provide a Priority Pass membership, giving the member and two guests access to over 1,400 lounges globally. Furthermore, the USO (United Service Organizations) operates dedicated military-only lounges in many major U.S. airports, providing free snacks, beds, and entertainment specifically for service members and their families regardless of their airline or ticket class.

Some individual airlines allow this sort of thing. As far as I know, American Express does not explicitly allow military service members free access to their lounges … directly. However, certain AMEX cards (Platinum personal and Platinum business) do come with “free” Centurion Lounge access.
