Passport checks used to be carried on the international Eurostar train, but all formalities are now carried out before boarding. At some border crossings, the train stops twice. First on one side of the border for checks and then on the other side for a second set of checks.
Check-in for Eurostar journeys opens an hour and 15 minutes before departure. We recommend that you arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your train leaving so you can have a stress-free check-in.
You won't get a stamp when crossing internal borders, no matter whether it's train, plane or car. There is simply no one to give it to you. It's equal with crossing border from New York to New Jersey (for example).
All of our border and luggage checks take place before you depart, which means you can simply hop off the train when you arrive. Our trains can carry up to 894 passengers, so there may be times when you experience queues at the station. This can particularly happen on peak days or when checks take a bit longer.
You must validate (composter) all French train tickets before you board a train unless you have printed your ticket off at home or downloaded it on your mobile phone. Tickets that are bought or exchanged at a station self-service machine in the hour before you travel may be validated automatically, according to SNCF.
Any quantity of inflammable substances, including empty canisters e.g. petrol, methylated spirits, paint thinners. Don't worry though, you can take nail polish and hairspray. Firelighters and lighter fuel. All flick knives, gravity knives and daggers.
