Pirates of the Caribbean's single drop is 14 feet and takes place entirely in the dark. Fortunately for ride chickens, it's not that big or intense and serves to transition guests into the pirate world.

Sprinkler systems on top of the buildings are turned on about 10-12 minutes before Wishes is set to begin, and it wets down the area. Therefore, if an ash or lit piece of firework lands in that area, it will be extinguished.

For Splash, just take thin flip flops in a backpack, change shoes in line, put the sneaks and socks into a backpack, then change back after riding. If your entire group will each have their own backpack, perhaps one of you will have a lot less room than others and can dedicate that bag to store the shoes in.

Unlike flip flops, you can wear your water shoes on the slides and other attractions. You'll also be happy you're wearing your water shoes when it's time for a trip to the bathroom. Bare feet and public restrooms DO NOT mix! Put swim diapers on your little ones.

Everything is more spread out, so you'd be caught longer in the rain. Based on the usual summer forecast, we'd recommend a plan that includes visiting Animal Kingdom in the morning and EPCOT in the afternoon. Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios each have a fair amount of indoor attractions.

Do the rides shut down when it rains? Yes. They absolutely can. Attractions that are outdoors – like Slinky Dog Dash, Expedition Everest, Test Track, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, to name a few – will shut down, especially if there is nearby lightning.

Splash Mountain's drop angle is 45 degrees @ WDW. PotC's drop is 21 degrees @ Disney land, so around the same at WDW. Big difference!
