Why is the ground always wet at Disney?

Sprinkler systems on top of the buildings are turned on about 10-12 minutes before Wishes is set to begin, and it wets down the area. Therefore, if an ash or lit piece of firework lands in that area, it will be extinguished.

If you notice that the ground at Disney World or Disneyland often looks wet, even when it hasn't rained, it is usually due to a combination of intentional maintenance and high-tech horticultural practices. One of the main reasons is Disney’s obsession with cleanliness; every night after the parks close, "custodial" teams perform a massive "wash-down" of the entire park using high-pressure hoses to remove soda spills, sticky treats, and general grime from the day's thousands of guests. This ensures the park looks brand new every morning. Additionally, Disney uses extensive irrigation systems for its world-class landscaping. These systems often run in the early morning hours, and overspray can leave walkways damp. In the Florida heat, "misters" are frequently used in queues to keep guests cool, which can lead to puddles in high-traffic areas. Finally, the specific type of porous pavement used in some areas of the parks is designed to manage heavy tropical downpours by allowing water to drain quickly, but this material can retain a "dark" or "wet" appearance long after the water has moved through. It's all part of the "Disney Magic" of keeping the environment pristine and comfortable.
