Do you get wet on rides at Disney?

There are some great water rides at Walt Disney World. Two of my favorites are Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom and Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom. On both of these rides, you might get a little bit wet, or you might get very wet!

At Disney World and Disneyland in 2026, the amount of water you encounter depends entirely on the attraction. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (which replaced Splash Mountain) and Kali River Rapids are the primary "soaker" rides where you are almost guaranteed to get wet, or even drenched, depending on the boat's weight distribution. Other rides offer "refreshing mists" or minor splashes, such as Frozen Ever After, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Jungle Cruise. Even non-water rides like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway or Avatar Flight of Passage use sophisticated 4D effects to provide light mists that enhance the immersive experience. For the bigger rides, most guests in 2026 use lightweight ponchos or store electronics in free nearby lockers to stay dry.

Epcot is the best because there is only one outdoor attraction in the whole park, Test Track. Other than that, every ride will remain open and running during rainy weather.

Disney's official policy is that it does not offer refunds for rain. What is this? The show must go on, and even when it is rainy, Disney World is open. Now, of course if Disney does happen to close for a weather event (like a hurricane) they will issue refunds then.

If the rain isn't heavy and there isn't danger of lightning, our best advice is to put on a poncho and keep moving! Indoor attractions will be open, and the lines typically get shorter during rainstorms.

A Fresh Start Everyday. The streets of WDW's Magic Kingdom theme park are still wet in the early morning from being washed during the night. Disney Cast Members spend each night making the park ready for the next day.

Sometimes soaking wet depending on where you are sitting. However, they do have lockers at the ride to store your stuff in if needed. For other rides such as Splash Mountain there are a few places where you can get pretty wet.

The drops on Splash don't give you much of the stomach drop sensation. They are not very steep. That said, the drops will still probably bother you mentally, but it will be well worth it. Splash Mountain is one of the truly special rides in all of WDW that MUST be experienced.
