Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of Animal Kingdom's busiest attractions, along with Expedition Everest and the two Pandora attractions. Waits diminish in the late afternoon, sometimes as early as 3:30 p.m. The ride does operate when it's raining, if possible, but it may close if the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Full day park if you want to do everything & savor it. With good crowds, and doing almost everything, Animal Kingdom is like a 85% of your day park. Magic Kingdom is like a day and a half park.
Some Guests feel that Disney's Animal Kingdom park is a half-day park. But you and I know that those naysayers are incorrect! Because live animals are such a large focus of so many of the attractions at this park, visiting in the morning is crucial. While Disney has found ways to extend the fun into the afternoon and evening hours, most of the animals viewed here are far more active, and therefore visible, in the morning.
Each day, our Keepers assess the weather conditions and how our animals may be impacted, which means in inclement weather, some animals may not be visible on Safari for their own safety. Depending on the severity of the weather, other animals may need to be kept inside.
There is no place quite like Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The wilderness must be explored! If you're planning on experiencing Kilimanjaro Safaris, you're going to want to give yourself about 15 minutes to walk there from the park entrance, Cristal.
TIP: Bring binoculars to get a close-up glimpse of the animals that may be off in the distance. TIP: The best times to ride the Safari is first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon. The animals are often more active during both of these times.
If you are the kind of person who enjoys the park atmosphere between the rides, Animal Kingdom is incredibly immersive. If you're checking off rides and shows and your mind is in other parks you want to get to, Animal Kingdom can be a half day.
Nonetheless, two days will allow you plenty of time to enjoy the major attractions as well as spending some time enjoying the smaller details that make Animal Kingdom such a special and wonderful place.
Busiest Days at Animal KingdomConsider steering clear of Animal Kingdom on Saturdays and Mondays. These are the days when Disney offers Extra Magic Hours at the park, leading to increased attendance and longer wait times.
Disney's official policy is that it does not offer refunds for rain. What is this? The show must go on, and even when it is rainy, Disney World is open. Now, of course if Disney does happen to close for a weather event (like a hurricane) they will issue refunds then.
The wet months at Walt Disney World are June, July, August, and September. During that time, you can expect that it will rain almost every day. Most of the time you will get an intense drenching for an hour in the late afternoon which then passes quickly.
