Does Disneyland have paper or plastic straws?

Walt Disney World will begin phasing out the availability of plastic lids and paper straws at its quick-service restaurants and snack locations across the resort. Starting August 21, 2023, paper straws and plastic lids will only be available on request and will not be placed in guest areas for self-service.

As of 2026, Disneyland Resort (and Walt Disney World) almost exclusively uses paper straws and has eliminated single-use plastic straws and stirrers as part of its long-term commitment to environmental sustainability and zero-waste goals. While paper straws are the standard at most quick-service and snack locations, some high-fidelity dining spots and Joffrey's Coffee locations have transitioned to sugarcane-based straws. These biodegradable alternatives are popular because they are more durable than paper—they don't get "soggy" mid-drink—while still meeting strict marine-biodegradable standards. In some areas, Disney has moved toward a "straw-on-request" policy or uses "sipper lids" for certain beverages to reduce waste further. For guests who dislike the texture of paper, bringing a personal reusable silicone or metal straw has become a common "pro-tip" for navigating the parks in 2026.
