Matterhorn Glacier Paradise with Swiss Travel Pass Broadly, there are two types of tickets available to access Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The Swiss Travel Pass provides a 25% to 50% discount on the major excursions to see the Matterhorn, but it does not cover the final mountain summits for free. Specifically, the train from Visp to Zermatt is 100% included in the pass. Once in Zermatt, the pass gives you a 50% discount on the Gornergrat Railway (the famous cogwheel train to the 3,089m viewpoint) and a 50% discount on the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car (the highest station in Europe). In 2026, some seasonal promotions may offer deeper discounts, but generally, you must pay an additional fee for these "mountain lifts." A popular alternative is the Peak Pass, which offers unlimited travel on all Zermatt lifts; Swiss Travel Pass holders receive a 25% discount when purchasing this supplemental pass. While the Matterhorn itself is a climbing peak and not "covered" for entry, the Swiss Travel Pass ensures you reach the base village and the best panoramic viewpoints for a significantly reduced price compared to standard tourist tickets.
