Because I get this question almost daily, here is once again an explanation of what IS NOT INCLUDED with the Swiss Travel Pass. Mountain excursions are not included with the Swiss Travel Pass (with the exception of Mt Rigi, Stanserhorn, and Stoos as mentioned above), but you do get a discount on most of them.

As of 2026, the Swiss Travel Pass provides 100% free travel (no supplement required) to three specific mountain peaks: Mt. Rigi, Mt. Stanserhorn, and Stoos. For Mt. Rigi, the pass covers the cogwheel trains from Vitznau and Goldau, as well as the cable car from Weggis. For Mt. Stanserhorn, the pass includes the historic funicular and the world-famous open-top CabriO cable car. The Stoos excursion includes the world's steepest funicular railway. For most other major peaks, such as the Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe), Mt. Titlis, Mt. Pilatus, and the Gornergrat in Zermatt, the Swiss Travel Pass does not provide free entry but instead offers a 50% discount (or 25% for the Jungfraujoch). These free excursions represent exceptional value, as they allow travelers to experience high-altitude Alpine views and unique mountain transport technology without any out-of-pocket costs beyond the price of the pass itself. It is always recommended to check the "Area of Validity" map for the current year, as these inclusions can occasionally change based on new regional partnerships.
