The 2km long lazy river & rapids takes a good 20 minutes or so to do a full circle around the outskirts of the park, containing the two towers where all the rides are. There's also a private man-made beach for the waterpark too, so there's plenty to keep you busy all day long.

If you aren't staying at the Atlantis Resort, but you want to explore all that it has to offer, it is definitely worth it. Since I was staying at the resort, I didn't have to purchase one. I can honestly say that I enjoyed all that Atlantis has to offer and it was definitely worth it!

I've seen lots of sharks on our Bahamas trips while snorkeling & diving not far from shore. Just be smart and you'll be ok. Like a previous poster said, never swim at dusk or dark. That is why the 'beach closes' at 5:00 or so.
