How do Disney Lightning passes work?

A: A Lightning Lane entrance is a queue available at select attractions and experiences through options Guests can purchase to save time in line. To use a Lightning Lane entrance, a Guest must select an arrival window through the My Disney Experience mobile app before embarking on the attraction or experience.

In 2026, Disney's system for skipping lines at Walt Disney World and Disneyland is centered around Lightning Lane passes, which replaced the former Genie+ and FastPass systems. There are three main types: Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which allows you to pre-book up to three attractions before your visit (7 days in advance for hotel guests, 3 days for others) and then book more once you've used them in the park; Lightning Lane Single Pass, which is a separate "à la carte" purchase for the most popular rides (like Rise of the Resistance) not included in the Multi Pass; and the high-end Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which allows one-time entry to every available Lightning Lane attraction once per day without needing to book a specific return time. All passes are managed through the My Disney Experience or Disneyland app. Prices are dynamic and vary by day and demand. You simply tap your MagicBand or phone at the "Lightning Lane" entrance during your confirmed one-hour arrival window to bypass the much longer standby queue.
